The previous weekend saw Graeme Gadsby catch two nice carp from Swan Lake, a 26lb 8oz mirror and a 17lb 6oz common. However, for much of the following week carp stubbornly refused to feed despite showing themselves on the lake’s surface. David Grant fished a long session on the lake and started by catching a large bream well over 10lbs that he never weighed as it was not his intended target. However, he was only able to add one double-figure carp to his tally during the remainder of his stay. Karl Franklin finally caught up with one of the lake’s bream after a frustrating couple of days. The fish weighed 6lb 14oz and fell to float-fished cockles.
Alan Wilkie visited McGregor Lake for a short session and decided to use only hook baits with no free offerings. The tactic worked though for he went on to have a single run that resulted in him catching a 20lb 15oz mirror carp.
Gingerbread Lake continues to produce plenty of good-sized tench averaging in the 5-7lb range mainly accidently caught by carp anglers. Ionut Cires chalked up another good-sized mirror during the week.
