News Update: 6th August 2022

This past week it has been anglers fishing at Gingerbread Lake who have enjoyed some fantastic catches of big carp and tench. Ionut Cires caught the big common carp again weighing around 40lbs for the fifth time this season. Earlier in the week he landed a big mirror weighing around 3olbs and later caught a heavily scaled mirror and a long common carp.  Paul Titchmarsh reported catching a 33lb 7oz mirror carp and more mirrors in the 30lb plus category were notified by Glenn Mills and Chris Tribe. In addition to his big carp, Glenn Mills was rightly impressed by tench he was catching  with fish weighing up to and around 9lbs.

At Swan Lake, there were few fish caught during the week despite plenty of signs of carp being active in the early mornings. Anthony Pogmore caught a 6lb 8oz bream using a Crafty Catcher KP boilie fished at 40 yards range and Alan Dobbs tempted one of the lake’s pristine tench weighing 6lb 3oz. Both fish were caught during the daytime.

Mick Day had said that he had struggled to get runs bottom fishing lately so was especially pleased to catch a hard fighting 19lb 4oz mirror carp from McGregor Lake using a Crafty Catcher KC boilie as bait.

Keen river specialist Colin Crane has been getting to grips with the River Ivel and had already caught a big perch weighing well over 2lbs on a previous occasion. This week, he was able to add a nice barbel weighing 6lb 3oz to his catch list although he was unlucky to lose a much larger specimen.
