News Update: 2nd October 2022

Although a relatively small lake, many anglers fishing at Swan Lake have found it a difficult nut to crack particularly in getting carp to feed. Glenn Mills was relieved to open his account with a nice-looking mirror carp weighing just under 23lbs during an overnight session. Later in the week, he caught a cracking 34lb 10oz common carp to make it a memorable week for him.

Anglers are reminded that day membership fishing times on the lakes are now from 7am until 7pm each day with only night permit holders allowed to fish outside these times.

Members are asked to ensure that they have a photograph of themselves within their club books particularly when fishing on IPA waters. Members fishing who are unable to show a photograph risk having their books confiscated and/or asked to leave the water.

Persons fishing our river sections are asked to be vigilant in keeping a look out for poachers and long lines of multiple hooks left by individuals intent on removing fish for the pot. This illegal fishing may result in prosecution of the culprits with heavy fines. EA bailiffs are aware of these abuses and are actively looking for culprits as are club bailiffs. Please telephone the EA’s emergency helpline if you observe any suspicious behaviour or the rural crime squad of the Police.
