News Update: 9th October 2022

A few carp were caught over the previous weekend at Swan Lake including a 24lb 6oz mirror carp by Marcus Ridley. However, during most of the past week there was little signs of carp feeding except in areas of the lake only lightly fished.

At the last Board meeting, the need to top dress the newly made swims on McGregor Lake was discussed and it was agreed to acquire wood chippings to cover each swim to avoid them becoming muddy whenever it rains.

Preliminary mapping of an otter fence to be erected around Grace Lake has begun and, hopefully, the fencing will be completed as soon as possible. The Board is still keen to develop the lake(s) into a tench and crucian carp water to provide members with an alternative to our king carp waters.

The Board is aware of some serious snags that exist at Gingerbread Lake with fallen trees and at Swan and McGregor Lakes too. Steps are being taken to try to remove these snags but it will require the hire of expensive equipment to remove some of them.

The next working party will take place at Gingerbread Lake and the date will be announced when firmed up. It would be nice to see a few more members participate to supplement the small group of mainly Board members who attend. There will be an opportunity for members to offer their help nearer the time.
