News Update: 31st December 2022

The recent milder weather freed the lakes of ice and Tim Odell was soon back at Swan Lake in his pursuit of the lake’s big carp. He opted for a change from his usual swim and through the day he experienced three violent pulls on his line so he decided to slacken off his lines to see if this might encourage a take. The tactic worked and Tim found himself playing a hard fighting fish which he managed to land. The fish was a mirror carp that tipped his scales at 31lb 1oz.

The fishing event held at Tempsford on the Rivers Ouse and Ivel took place on Wednesday the 28th. It was well attended especially as the weather was not kind for much of the day. All those who turned up were offered a bacon roll and some hot homemade soup to warm them up. It transpired that it was Club Chairman and keen chub angler Neil Sampson who showed the way home by catching 3 chub, the best weighing 5lb 40z, and two cracking perch each weighing 1lb 15oz. Needless to say, he was subject to some light hearted banter that he must have brought the fish with him! All who attended concluded it was an enjoyable day and there are now already plans being made for further such events.
