News Update: 14th January 2024

Over the past weekend, board members together with some helpers have carried out emergency repairs to parts of the fencing around Gingerbread Lake that had been pushed down during the recent flooding. It is hoped that this work will have prevented any material loss of fish stocks through otter predation.

Inspections carried out at Gingerbread Lake and the Sandy Lakes fisheries confirmed that neither venue was in a fit state to allow normal angling activity to resume without the risk of severe damage to tracks and pathways. It was concluded, therefore, that both fisheries should remain closed until further notice. Almost daily inspections are being carried out and as soon as the surrounding land had dried out sufficiently the lakes will be re-opened.

The rivers have responded well to the recent floods with anglers prepared to fish our river stretches enjoying some good catches of chub with specimens to over 5lbs
