News Update: 31st March 2024

Glenn Mills had another great week’s fishing at Gingerbread Lake catching another two of the lake’s big carp. Early in the week Glenn landed a lovely looking 29lb 4oz mirror carp but later he went on to catch a truly magnificent looking 33lb 12oz common carp. Glenn reported that the fish gave him one of the hardest fights he had had with the lake’s carp.

Meanwhile, at Swan Lake David Flint reported catching three carp all weighing over 30lbs, two commons weighing 30lb 3oz and 33lbs plus a 30lb mirror carp.

Jamie Smith said sport had been slow for him at McGregor Lake but it suddenly changed with Jamie chalking up eight carp during a day despite losing two others. His carp averaged around 16-18lb each but was topped by a fully-scaled mirror weighing 20lb 8oz.

Working Party 13-4-24 to 14-4-24

A working Party will be taking place at Gingerbread Lake to undertake essential repairs to the fencing surrounding the lake. The work will involve the employment of some heavy machinery, so we are obliged to close the lake on Health & Safety grounds whilst this work is taking place. The lake will be closed from 2200 hrs on the 12th of April until 500hrs on the 15th.

The working Party organiser, Louis Horne, would welcome the help of any members wishing to participate in this week. You can find Louis’s details on page 44 of your membership books. Also, it will give an opportunity for members to meet several board members who are always available to hear your views.

The board is aware of the need to urgently improve the state of the tracks and paths at both Swan and McGregor Lakes and this work is likely to be the next big task for them to carry out. As soon as the track work is completed, the restrictive tapes will be removed to allow access to all parts of the two lakes.
