News Update: 7th April 2024

The warm weather has brought with it a glut of catches from the Association’s three specimen carp fisheries.

At Gingerbread Lake, Zach Polfrey made his first visit to the lake this year and was rewarded by catching a cracking looking 26lb mirror carp. The fish was a new PB for the anglers beating his previous best by around 6lbs. Several other carp were caught despite some wet weather during the week.

Fraser Hayden had a break from his pursuit of specimen bream to have a 24-hour session after carp in McGregor Lake. He enjoyed a bumper session catching eight double-figured fish over 15lbs, the two best weighing 18lb 5oz and 19lb 11oz. He returned to the lake later in the week and blanked!

Several large carp have been caught at Swan Lake during the week, but the anglers did not want their catches published and their wishes are respected. Dave Grant chalked up his second twenty of the year on his latest session. Some good sized bream have been caught too but the lake’s tench are generally being evasive.
