News Update: 7th July 2024

Lloyd Gadsby continued his weekend session at McGregor Lake amassing a total of ten carp both mirrors and commons. He was later joined by Troy Fletcher and his partner Roxie Xie and the trio went to catch twenty six carp in total with Troy catching one of the lake’s largest residents, a mirror carp known as ‘Five Scale’ weighing 26lbs together with commons and mirrors up to 20lbs. Troy said most of his fish fell to three tiger nuts fished over a bed of boilies. The lake was also producing plenty of bream in the 4-6lb range for those anglers who like to target different species.

Some carp have been caught from Swan Lake during the week but multiple catches were few if any. Trevor Richardson thought he might have hooked one, but the fish turned out to be yet another boilie liking 12lb pike. Jamie Smith was another angler to find feeding tench landing three fish up to 6lb 13oz. Other anglers reporting catching good-sized bream and tench during the daytime too.

Members are asked to note that the first of the scheduled work parties will be taking place on the 27th and 28th of July when the Sandy Lakes fishery will be closed from 9pm on the preceding Friday until 5am on the following Monday. There is much remedial work to be done so any members who can help will be welcomed.
