Paul Burton fished a session on McGregor Lake in poor weather conditions, but was rewarded with 4 double figure carp, the largest just over 13lb.

A lot more festive fun!

Peter Scoats hit the jackpot whilst fishing at Swan Lake, Sandy. In a frantic one hour spell he caught two of the lake’s big carp, a 29lb4oz mirror and a 25lb common.

What a difference a week makes!

Robert Livock fished a day session at McGregor Lake but had to wait until late afternoon before getting any action. A positive run produced a muscular 12lb 8oz mirror for him. Incidentally, his capture from the lake the previous week was a 19lb 12oz mirror and not a 129lb mirror!

Big carp start to feed in earnest

The milder weather has resulted in some big carp being caught at Swan Lake too with head bailiff Dave Hallybone catching a 34lb 12oz linear mirror. Another big carp of 28lbs was caught that had put on around six pounds in weight since it was caught earlier in the year.

The start of winter sees carp still feeding

Day sessions at McGregor Lake have proven to be difficult in recent times but the lake returned to form with some multiple catches made during daylight hours. Mick Day fish a short day session when, within a couple of hours of casting out, he caught a 17lb 2oz mirror carp legering boilies tight to the margins.

Falling leaves herald that winter is on its way

The largest fish was a 32lb 8oz mirror but Kevin Barrable had a 30lb mirror too shortly into a 3-day session. It was to prove his only action during his stay. Bailiff Derek Orchard has caught consistently throughout the week fishing only daytime sessions landing mirrors weighing 21lbs and 23lbs together with a 24lb common carp.

It’s taken 27 years but I got there in the end!

The number 15 featured in reports of captures from McGregor Lake this week. Membership Secretary Anthony Pogmore fished at the lake following his capture of a nice tench from Gingerbread Lake and, within a couple of hours of fishing, he landed a hard-fighting 15lb mirror. His fish fell to an Amber Cream boilie fished in conjunction with a PVA bag of freebies .Another angler fishing the lake on the same day did even better by catching, at least, 3 carp to over 15lbs. Finally, young Max Austin opened his account when he caught a 15lb 1oz mirror carp using a Robin Red boilie as bait.
