Simon Lashmore managed to catch a couple of sizable pike fishing at the sandy Lakes complex. His pike weighed 13lb 2oz and 12lb 12oz and both fell to ledgered mackerel.

Spawning does little to effect sport

Richard Bartlett’s latest trip to McGregor Lake yielded two fish for him, an 11lb 14oz mirror and a 12lb common carp. John Murphy’s grandson, Jonnie caught a 10lb 8oz mirror carp on a day when little was feeding. However, there has been a steady stream of carp being caught throughout the week from all parts of this lake. Members are reminded that the lake will be reserved for an Over 60s match on Wednesday, the 3rd of June.

Carp catches steal the limelight

Anglers returning to another of BHAA’s big fish venues, Swan Lake, have also been getting amongst the carp. The largest reported capture was of a 32lb mirror carp caught by Barry Gyles. Callum Sharp recently landed a pristine 26lb common carp from the same venue.
